I have anaphylactic food allergies, is that something you can help with?
I am not able to give specific advice for IgE mediated (anaphylactic) allergies, however I can help you create a home or work environment that supports and takes a load off your immune system which can help in a more general way.
How do I know if my home is affecting my health?
Pay attention to your symptoms and see if they are better or worse at specific times. This isn't as straight forward as it sounds. Food intolerance symptoms are often delayed, and if several things are triggering symptoms then eliminating them one at a time is unlkely to result in any significant improvement. I can help you work out what are the most likely causes of your health issues and we can work together to come up with a practical plan to increase your wellbeing.
I don't have multiple sensitivities but I would like to create a home and workplace that are eco friendly. Can you help with that?
Eco friendly products are not necessarily healthy for our bodies. Many 'natural' paints have high levels of VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) which can trigger things like asthma and COPD for example. Essential oils also have high levels of VOCs, but are probably less damaging to our health than the synthetic air fresheners which contain a cocktail of petrochemicals that our bodies have to then process and eliminate. I would be happy to discuss the products and strategies that are both helpful for the environment and your body and come up with a strategy that suits your lifestyle.
How many sessions will I need?
If you are booking a healthy- home consultation I will send you a questionnaire to fill in. You can choose what you would like to focus on and I will aim to address this fully during the one session. If I can't help directly I will let you know beforehand, and point you in the direction of someone who is likely to be more knowledgeable in that area. After the consultation I will email you an Action Plan of the points we discussed with practical strategies for moving forward and addressing the issue. This should give you the support you need to improve your environment and start seeing a difference in your wellbeing. If at any time you feel you need more support or information you are welcome to book another session. If you're booking a Wellness Consultation or Life Coaching, please allow 1-2 hours for each session. On average people tend to need about 5 sessions. I suggest you just book one initial session so we can see if it's right for you. If you're not comfortable, there's no obligation to book any more sessions - I won't be offended - it's important you find a technique and practitioner that you are happy and comfortable to spend time with, and that may not be me. Likewise if you don't see any improvement after 5 sessions, another approach might be more effective and I would be happy to discuss alternatives for you to explore.
I heard that some foods can cause symptoms like rashes, mood swings and fatigue. Should I try cutting out wheat and dairy?
When you have a bout of ill health the digestive enzymes that break down wheat and dairy are the first to go, so eliminating wheat and dairy for a short time might take a load off your body and give it time to recover. Unless you have an actual IgE allergy or a severe food intolerance, when your health improves you may well find you can eat wheat and dairy products again without any problems. Cutting food out of your diet needs a lot of planning so you don't lose out on vital nutrients or calories. I am not a nutritionist or dietician, so I will not be able to give you specific advice on your diet, but we can discuss general approaches based on my own experience.
