Why Positivity Won't Create Abundance

Picture
We've all seen those spiritual woo-woo books that proudly proclaim you can have anything you like just by thinking good thoughts.

Erm, well no. Sorry, it doesn't work like that.

It's not how you think, it's how you feel and what you do that's important.

Let's be clear - there are no limits to what you can ask for in this world - we are all beautiful, limitless beings. But not every thought in your head has to be upbeat and happy in order to manifest a happier life.

This is good news for those of us humans that really do not think happy thoughts 100% of the time! Don't worry, there is a time-lag between what you think and what you manifest, and intent is important too. So next time you find yourself cursing the driver in front of you, don't worry. They will still be able to drive safely home - you are not omnipotent.

We are connected, we do influence the things and people around us with our energies, but we are PART of a glorious framework of energy, we are not the sole influencers.

So if that's a relief (it was for me), let's delve a bit deeper and find out why manifesting doesn't always work AND what you can do about it.

⭐ 5 ways to boost your manifesting superpower ⭐
1. We can only imagine what we already know

Just stop for a moment and consider how you're living. How much of your day-to-day routine is simply what's always happened, family routine, or something you saw/ heard someone else doing?
It's really hard to imagine something entirely new. It's not impossible, but generally most of the things we wish for are things we already know.

This means we might be missing out on A LOT of other options. The life we're trying to adopt might not be the one that's really aligned with who we are. It might just be the one on the menu that we noticed. Something from the circle of friends, family and social media we see every day.

But what if there are other menus to choose from?
Other ways of living that are much more suited to who you really are?
What if your life could be much BIGGER and more fabulous than you can possibly imagine?

Luckily all we need to do to begin is to set our intentions to start and steer the ship forward in a new direction. Sooner or late the winds of change will bring new things to your notice, and you can choose to adjust your vision accordingly.

So right now, take a shortcut. Which parts of your life need an upgrade to match who you are now? Look around you at someone else's social media, magazines, life biopics and find something that looks better. Start there, see how it feels and adjust as you go along. New choices will arrive and you can choose to accept or reject them for something better.
2. It's not what you say, it's how it feels

Positive thinking doesn't change our lives very easily.
Why? Because most of our day-to-day programming runs on autopilot.

This is a good thing, just imagine if you had to consciously brush your teeth every day - pick up the toothbrush in your fingers, applying light pressure, picking up the toothpaste with the other hand, squeezing a little onto the brush, holding it up to your mouth... If we had to consciously direct our bodies to do things, we'd go mad, and we'd still be getting dressed at tea-time.

3. Fear will stop everything

Our nervous systems control a lot of our day-to day reactions and systems without us ever having to consciously consider them. Your heart beats, your blood flows, when a tiger steps out of the woods you run... All very helpful. In fact necessary for survival as it means protective emotions like anger and running happen before you have even consciously noticed the threat.

As life goes on we adapt our subconscious reactions to keep us safe. We develop survival adaptations - we change our behaviour programs based on what we experience. And that can go back as far as our birth experience, and even further. If your granny had a life-threatening experience where she found food was scarce and had to 'make do', her body will have passed that energy adaptation down to her offspring to keep them safe too; some of our survival learning is passed down in our genetic coding.

These fears operate at a subconscious level and often show up as 'irrational' or illogical reactions. We KNOW something to be true or safe, but we react in a totally opposite way. So we may want to manifest more peace or more money in our lives, but our subconscious may not feel it's safe to do so.

Once we notice what patterns are keeping us stuck, there are many ways to undo and reset the nervous system. But positive thinking will not help as it's a conscious thing, and you'll only remember to do it 5-10% of the time.

For real change we need to address the fears held in the subconscious, the part of us that controls our processes 90-95% of the time. And we can do this through things like somatic (body) work. We notice our feelings, give them space to exist, and let them resolve so we can move through them and let the nervous system properly reset.

Sound therapy can also work really well in changing the underlying energies that are holding us back, without us needing to know what we're shifting or re-live it. The combination of somatic practice and tuning fork therapy is fantastic for resolving most things keeping us stuck.

4. You need to take action to create results

Mood boards and vision boards are great ways to get focussed on what we'd like to attract into our lives, but they won't magically make it appear by themselves.
Focus and intent need to be followed by action. It doesn't matter how small, just take one small step towards your goal.
5. What Positive thinking and gratitude WILL do:

Positive thinking IS a part of manifesting, as is gratitude, but it isn't the whole thing.
Imagine if we just made a list of things we want to change in our lives. Would everything on that list happen?

No.

Why?

Because our energy is driven by vibrational frequencies. We are all vibrational beings (think solids, liquids, gas) and we can change our state by changing our frequency. I mean you're not going to be able to think yourself into a polar bear or a bumble bee (not impossible but not really for beginners...  😂  ) However you can raise your frequency by focussing on higher, lighter emotions like gratitude, joy, contentment and peace rather than sadness, anger and fear.

Our emotions are associated with particular frequencies. When we want to manifest something, we call it into existence with our focus - our aim - then it waits for us until we can match its vibration. So after we've created our Vision Boards, we need to do the healing work to allow what we want to come into our life.

It's hard to suddenly go straight from feeling fear to joy, pretty impossible in fact. But if we want to raise our frequency to invite change, we don't need to do that in one go. Just one step up the emotional scale will begin the shifts we want to see. From Fear to Desire would be enough to start things moving for example.

Doing things that bring us joy can raise our frequency as can listening to specific sounds which is why I'm so passionate about tuning fork sound therapy. The forks are capable of rebalancing our subconscious energies and helping us to lift our frequency.

If you really want to speed things up, making a list of all the things you're grateful for, and REALLY feeling into that joy, peace or love of the gratefulness is a good way of raising your emotional vibration. As is listening to your favourite music, dancing, doing anything you love, that makes you happy. Make more time for that, and manifesting will become a lot easier.

Feel into the emotion of gratitude, then notice any other feelings that arise. What's really lying under the surface? Where is there frustration or resentment?

If we're always giving away our energy, we need to ask why. Helping others is no good if we're not helping ourselves. Balance is key.

Similarly if always we find it hard to put others first, there's some investigating to do to see what's really in our subconscious library.
